VXL launches Innovative new Itona Thin Client models at CeBit
New wireless enabled unit with integrated 17” LCD screen and a Thin Client laptop with GPRS capability and enhanced connectivity.
Hannover, Germany, 9th March 2006 —At Cebit today, VXL Instruments, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Windows based Terminals and Thin Client devices, announced the launch of two new models which will cement VXL’s position as a leading developer of innovative thin client solutions. The Itona TL37xx series takes VXL’s laptop range to new levels of connectivity via the integral PCMCIA slot. This enables the user to benefit from full mobile telephony through GPRS. For the first time the security and support benefits of Thin Client technology can be fully deployed across all business sectors.
The new Itona TI54xx series is VXL’s first integrated model and brings VXL’s proven combination of performance and quality at the lowest possible price point. The 17” LCD screen combines ultra sharp clarity with a small footprint and optional touchscreen capability. Elegantly integrated within the screen chassis is a powerful thin client device with all the usual connectivity of USB 2 and 10/100 Ethernet as well as wireless connectivity for ease of deployment. Aggressively priced, current estimates put the new machine some $300 cheaper that its equivalent rivals.
Both the models are available with Linux and Windows XPe as the inbuilt operating systems and the TI 54xx has the additional option of Windows CE. They also come with an impressive array of software including web browsers and VXL’s latest remote management software, XLmanage Workgroup Edition.
“These new models are designed to increase the scope of thin client technology” said Frank Noon, VXL’s VP of Sales. “The new laptop makes truly mobile thin client deployment possible for the first time, and the wireless-enabled integrated unit brings real ease of deployment in a small footprint. Organisations can now benefit from the increased security and cost – effectiveness of thin client technology, together with the flexibility offered by wireless and mobile connectivity.”
Industry analysts forecast that the current growth in thin client will continue as a result of the lower purchase and running costs, ease of management and greater security. “By expanding the range and scope of our products”, concludes Noon, “we are pushing the thin client boundaries, yet maintaining the VXL commitment to quality and performance at the lowest price point””
